CWAL has a strong showing in the WWW parade with 5 differently themed trishaws and the new van pulling up the rear.
Barb and her husband Steve arrived with some additional early birds to set up the WWW booth with loads of treats, prizes and info for folks passing by.
Booth volunteers during the parade handed out little containers of homemade treats and small fans to the trishaw passengers - brilliant move that helped stave off the heat!
Pilot Susie with her mom Carol and fellow passenger Ilene.
Pilot Dan J with his passengers Donna, his wife and grandson.
Pilot Scott with his in-laws - Jack, a 90-year old Korean War veteran and his wife Darlene.
PIlot Mary with her passengers, Glen, a 97-year old WWII veteran and his wife of 50 years, Mart.
Pilot Jonathan with his 3 passengers, Marsha, Millie and Margo.
Bob Toll, the new van manager drove the van, and held the parade spot early on so the trishaw passengers wouldn't have to sit for hours before the parade started! John rode shotgun for the parade.
It didn't take Barb long to figure how to get kids and their parents to linger at the booth: give the kids chalk! They could get a prize for drawing a bike - soon there were hundreds of bike drawings across the street!
This couple was dying from the heat and had parked in the ACC lot, several blocks away. CWAL to the rescue! They are excited to ride again, for the husband's birthday!
Barb and crew at the booth talked to a lot of people as they strolled past the booth, including potential passengers and young tykes (aka future pilots!).
CWAL joined in the fun at Nella's Fall Festival on October 14, 2023. Plenty of tasty frozen yogurt was consumed and many trishaw rides were given. CWAL loves partnering with Nella's and bringing joy to all ages from the young to the young at heart!
CWAL's sponsors ThriveCare, Comfort Keepers and All Seasons Healthcare held a very successful aging expo on October 19, 2023. 23 vendors provided a wide range of information and fun activities to 140 older adult guests. Several CWAL volunteers along with others pitched in to make the event a hit!

CWAL held a beautiful dedication ceremony on a picture perfect fall day in Hudson Gardens. The Board of Directors each shared a poem touching on joy, sorrow, perseverance, hope, compassion and gratitude - emotions and traits which were evident in the stories about those whose names are engraved on the bricks.
Each person or group who dedicated a brick, shared what their brick said and the reasons behind their dedications, and then placed a rose on their respective brick.
It was a very moving and beautiful event, attended by well over 50 people. Barb's ever present and delicious treats were of course on hand, and several trishaw rides were given to and from the main parking lot.
CWAL along with Wish of a Lifetime delivered a whopping 800 roses and handmade cards to homebound patients of All Seasons, Comfort Keepers and our partners. CWAL volunteers stepped up to play cupid and help bring a little love to a LOT of people on Valentine's Day!
